The Unlisted: Australia’s First Netflix Original
Netflix has acquired global rights outside Australia to sci-fi thriller The Unlisted, being produced by Aquarius Films’ Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford. The 15-part half-hour series created by Justine Flynn, who is serving as executive producer and directs two episodes, follows the story of 12-year-old identical twins, Dru and Kal Sharma, who work with a group of underground vigilante kids to stop powerful governments from imposing global control over the world’s youth.
Here’s the official synopsis of the series, “Twelve-year-old identical twins Dru and Kal discover that the government is secretly tracking and manipulating Australia’s youth via electronic tracking devices. Together with a group of underground vigilante kids – The Unlisted – they must stop the evil authorities from creating an army of young soldiers who can be manipulated to serve the wealthiest citizens.”
Rhys Graham, Nick Verso, Lucy Gaffy, Neil Sharma and Rebecca O’Brien directed the other episodes. The writers include Mithila Gupta, Timothy Lee, Tristram Baumber, Natesha Somasundaram, Nicholas Brown, Rhys Graham, Jane Allen, Greg Waters, and Chris Kunz.
On April 2, 2019, Aquarius Films posted on its Facebook page with the above last image, “Excited to announce that Netflix has boarded THE UNLISTED, our ABC series currently in post-production. The series will be released globally later this year – stay tuned for on-air dates coming soon.” However, the official air date for this interesting script has not announced yet, though according to Flyx sources, it should premiere on October 17, 2019.
