The Knight Before Christmas: Netflix Review

‘The Knight Before Christmas’ is an upcoming 2019 Christmas comedy film directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Cara J. Russell. The Netflix original movie appears to check all the major requirements for a Christmas tale, including a time-traveling knight, Christmas tree chopping, snowstorms, unforeseen romance, and a punny title. Excellent acting and mature direction are shown in the trailer but there is some doubt about the script. Although it’s a new kind of story that can be labeled under the rom-com series. The movie is all set to arrive on Netflix on November 21st.

Netflix original The Knight Before Christmas centers on a medieval knight named Sir Cole (Josh Whitehouse). After a magical sorceress transports him to modern Ohio during the holiday season, he encounters Brooke (Vanessa Hudgens), a clever and kind science teacher who’s become disillusioned by love. Brooke helps Sir Cole make his way through the modern world and helps him discover how to fulfill his mysterious quest, the only thing that can return him home. But as he and Brooke become closer, Sir Cole starts to wonder just how much he wants to return to his old life.

The cast also includes Emmanuelle Chriqui, Harry Jarvis, Mimi Gianopulos, and Ella Kenion. Monika Mitchell (The Christmas Contract, Royal New Year’s Eve) is in the director’s chair. The streaming service has dabbled plenty in the past with Netflix holiday movies, perhaps most notably with A Christmas Prince, which was released in 2017 and went on to become a modern favorite. They also scored a big hit with The Christmas Chronicles last year, which stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus.
