The Neighbor, original in Spanish El Vecino is a superhero comedy by writer Santiao Garcia and artist Pepo Perez. Colossal‘s Nacho Vigalando has signed on to direct the series, with actors Quim Gutiérrez, Clara Lago, Catalina Sopelana and Adrián Pino on-board in unspecified roles. El Vecino is published by the Spanish publisher Astiberri, and has not been translated for English-speaking audiences but it’s coming on Netflix with subtitles in English on December 31, 2019.
The plot follows Javier whose life is not going well. The last thing he needs is for an alien to land on him and transfers its powers before dying. Now Javier is a superhero, but it turns out superpowers are useless when you get fired from your job or your girlfriend decides she wants to take a break. Fortunately, Javier’s friend and neighbor José will teach him to use his powers for good and hide his secret identity, especially from his girlfriend who’s now investigating Titan, the mysterious superhero.”
The Spanish show is labeled under Deadpan and exciting with a touch of comedy which is based on Comics. At the official webpage Netflix has given short information, “Javier, a 20-something struggling with adulthood and his girlfriend, unexpectedly becomes a superhero. Based on Santiago García and Pepo Pérez’s comic.” There are many superhero-based films, but the script of The Nighbor is a bit different, also mature acting, advanced fiction and excellent direction making the series worthwhile.
Netflix has published a trailer on November 15, 2019, along with a short description, “Thirty-something Javier struggles to handle adulthood and his girlfriend. Maybe, he doesn’t want to handle it either. One day, his life suddenly changes when he receives the powers of a superhero. Based on the comic by Santiago García and Pepo Pérez.
