Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is an American supernatural horror web series developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for Netflix, based on the Archie comic book series of the same name. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, in association with Berlanti Productions and Archie Comics. The show, with its dark elements, tackles important issues such as identity, family ties, gender, sexuality, and disabilities with immaculate skill. Good news – Netflix has announced that season 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will arrive on Friday 24th January 2020.
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch,” creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is a chief creative officer of Archie Comics, said in a statement about the renewal. “And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
The series is centered on the Archie Comics character Sabrina Spellman who is half-mortal and half-witch portrayed by Kiernan Shipka. The dark coming-of-age story also stars Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardwell (but she’s really Madame Satan). Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Miranda Otto, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, and Gavin Leatherwood will also return for more adventures in this dark realm.
EW has published a description for CAOS, read the same in detail here: Part Three finds Sabrina reeling from the harrowing events of Part Two. Though she defeated her father Lucifer, the Dark Lord remains trapped within the human prison of her beloved boyfriend, Nicholas Scratch.
Sabrina can’t live with herself, knowing that Nick made the ultimate sacrifice and is suffering, burning in Hell under Madam Satan’s watchful eye. So with an assist from her mortal friends, “The Fright Club” (consisting of Harvey, Rosalind, and Theo), Sabrina makes it her mission to free him from eternal damnation and bring him back into her arms.
However, the Dark Lord’s unseating has sent shockwaves through the realms—and, with no one on the throne, Sabrina must assume the title of “Queen” to defend it against a challenger, the handsome Prince of Hell Caliban. Meanwhile, in Greendale, a mysterious carnival rolls into town, bringing with it a threat to the Spellmans and the coven: A tribe of pagans looking to resurrect an ancient evil…
Aunt Hilda and Aunt Zelda (who has assumed the role of High Priestess for the coven) are seemingly fighting their own important battle. “Meanwhile, in Greendale, a mysterious carnival rolls into town, bringing with it a threat to the Spellmans and the coven: A tribe of pagans looking to resurrect an ancient evil…,” the statement concludes. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Sabrina and her loyal crew. If season three is anything like the first two installments of the popular Netflix show, it will not disappoint.
“It’s funny, I love both those guys,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “I love Gavin and I love Ross. I think probably, I ship both couples. I have a soft spot for Harvey because he’s Sabrina’s longtime boyfriend in the comic books, but I cannot deny that Sabrina and Nick are a great, potent match. So yes, there is a reason to hope for Harvey and Sabrina shippers. But Sabrina and Nick are pretty undeniable.”
Netflix released a teaser trailer and shared that season 3 arrives on January 24, 2020. The short trailer features a shadowed Sabrina donning her infamous red jacket and holding a lantern. A sinister voice whispers “welcome to hell” while Sabrina emerges from a fog. “Knock knock knock on the gates of Hell…on January 24th Chilling Adventures of Sabrina returns 🔥” the caption Netflix posted to Instagram reads.
